3D-I Assignment 3; Part 1

So, like mentioned in the last post, we switched concepts with someone else. Or rather we were employed by someone else to make a model of their concept. As such, so was I too by another student. This is the concept I was given:

All rights reserved by it’s creator Ben Ellebracht

According to my “employer”, this character is a shaman, nicknamed Hito. The tribe Hito lives in is a peaceful people that respect nature and lives alongside the giant eagles of the […]

Assignment 2 presentation and progress report

Here is the presentation and the progress report of assignment 2 all baked in to one. I chose to model a 12th century baptismal font. At least I thought it was a baptismal font during the entire process of making it, only to find out after some further research that it is in fact a “Piscina”! the Piscina is a drain used by the church to dispose of holy water and to wash the communion vessels, usually […]

Five week game-concept (Paper-prototype)

Yesterday my group tried to make a paper prototype that will represent the gameplay that we want the final pc game to have. In order to make this reality we started of with a basic boardgame as our base. I used a similar approach in my other group when we made a paperprototype of  Left 4 Dead 2.
In this boardgame we used a grid of 7×7 squares and let the outer most squares be the […]

3D Computer Graphics – Blog Post Week 05

This is a blog post that will showcase my final object for assignment one in the 3D Computer Graphics course that I’m taking. My object is a medieval themed chest and I have created a diffuse texture and both a specular and normal map to enhance the details in the texture.
The diffuse map is the most frequently used texture mapping method. It wraps the bitmap image onto the 3D geometry surface while displaying its original pixel color. Any bitmap […]

Space Shooter 2: Electric Boogaloo

… or maybe not. Actually, yesterday we decided that the name for our Space Shooter should be Candybones Carnival, which I really like.
For the artstyle of the game we decided on a paper cut out sort of look. I struggled a bit with it at the beginning, but I think I’m getting the hang of it!

This is the first version of a background that I did. I never finished it because I quickly realized it didn’t look the way we […]

3D1 Assignment 2 final

This is how far I have come with the modeling and texturing of the knife.

The knife imported into UDK.

Diffuse Map

Normal Map

Specular Map

This was the toughest one so far to texture, the modeling part was not that hard to do. But the thing that was hard was to unwrap the UV. The only hard part was the middle one where i wanted to cut it open into one piece, I sat down and tried it for two hole days […]

Developers Diary. Meeting 2. Jetpack Orangutan.

Second Meeting.
We met up again and immediately began discussing what the group had done.
As producer I had the team assemble in the library and I asked the group to look at the slides for the One-Page Design Lecture that Marcus had put on our web-portal for Uppsala University.
The first thing we did was decide on a high-concept. A sentence that is the essence of our game, is punchy and informative and interesting.
After that we decided to hold off on the […]
