During this week I continued to work with the animations for the main character, I managed to finish all the essential animations, so this will be a post with alot of videos.
Next week I will start on animations that will be used in the main menu, in the main menu the character will be laying on the ground trying to get up, I think creating those animations will be alot of fun, if I manage to complete all of them […]

Week 3

During week 3 I only worked with the animations, for now I have only worked on the animations which are essential for the character such as turning animations etc. At the moment all the animations are quite rough and I will start polishing them during week 4.

I will show all the animations from the players point of view, which is from behind the character.

Turn Animation

This is the turn left animation, when the player turn right we will mirror this animation, […]

The End of Advanced Game Design and Serious Games

Now my two courses have come to an end.
I am quite pleased with both of my board games, now it’s only waiting to see if I passed or failed the courses. If you have any questions about any of the courses then feel free to ask 🙂
I am now embarking on different territory with Math and Programming, I will update when I have had my first classes.

Group and individual work

After two days of play-testing we have polished our game some more. My dice rolling went like shit so I died really early on in the game so for me it became fast boring, but it wasn’t only my dice rolling that did it. We noticed that the wizard had become little too powerful with some of the new spells that had been added, so the changes we did to balance it was to make the most powerful spells into […]

Wizards and invisible Monsters

During this weeks playtesting me and my group tried out two boardgames we hadn’t testet yet, I can remeber the group numbers sorry about that.
The first game we tried out was sort of like a dungeon crawler, where one player got to be an evil wizard I got to be the wizard which was awesome! the other players where heroes who’s goal was to find 3 keys then go to my tower and  kill me, and the wizards goal is […]

Board Game Decisions – Design Document

Yesterday we made a few decisions on what was left to be done in order to make the game and system better. We wrote down a list and divided up the work.  I decided that I wanted to work on the design document. It is something that I think is good to learn how to do, even though we have done a few of them I don’t feel confident about doing one.  Our second prototype will be really interesting to […]

The board game project – Overview and personal thoughts

A few days ago we had our first meeting about the board game project. We had some ideas pretty early on.
One of these ideas was to have a game with toy guns which you have to physically shoot other players with.
We had all played “Jungle Speed” and really liked that concept and we discussed if we could recreate the feeling when playing that game.
I’ll Explain in short what Jungle Speed is for those who do not know:
In jungle speed a […]

Board Game progress

For a week back or so we’ve been tasked to create a board game prototype in groups. This week we are supposed to have a playable prototype and we are supposed to play other groups prototypes while they play ours.
Initially we set out to create something intense, competetive and strategic, but during our development I found that we couldn’t really get something like that to work. After trial and error (and without major playtesting) it is hard […]

First boardgame meeting

Yester day I met my group to start figuring out idéas for our boardgame,Luckily for us Simon Wulf already had an idé.
He wanted to create a game which would simulate pirates having naval battles. We all liked the sound of this.
The game is played on an hexagonal board and will look something like this but will hopefully be made prettier in the future.

We came upp with a movement system which will simulate sailing, we implimented  a wind system […]

Board Game System Meeting

Yesterday, we had our first group meeting discussing our board game system that we are going to make.
We decided on our aesthetic goal for it. We wanted the player to experience different emotions of excitement, intense competition and an element of strategy.
I get excited about the challenge in meeting those requirements in the game and I hope that we will be able to make it happen.
When we had discussed the aesthetic goal that we wanted to achieve then we moved […]

A Reflection of System Analysis

Let me tell you a story.
Once upon a time there were 2 board games and 1 role-playing game that wanted to be analysed. They wanted to be broken down into their tiniest pieces and then they wanted to know what their systems were. The biggest box Setty was confident in his systems and he feared no one.
– I have a wonderful system that brings shame on others!
Ani said in response:
– I have more cards than you’ll […]
