Depressing State.
Today I was invited to a group dedicated to discussing the design of games, and games in general, as well as the overall state of gaming, the game industry and most things included in this. First and foremost, however, it’s an ongoing discussion.
Unfortunately (and there’s not escaping it) the first 2 or 3 posts in the group are all very depressing and bitter, warning us as designers not to get into the industry.
What? Well, obviously this is not a great […]

Assignment 2 (week 5)
Ciborium – Case for consecrated wafers
This is how far I’ve come on my assignment 2 so far. I realise that I am a bit behind but I do not think it is at a critical point yet, and hopefully it will never be.

Challenge – Not the BEES!!
This week my classmate Sebastian and I have been working on a concept challenge. In one weeks time we had to come up with a Video Game Concept with help from Rory’s Story Cubes. The app randomizes dices and with help from these you have to come up with a narrative for your video game. Three of these images were turtles and bees and a questionmark. From these we came up with a

3D – Week 4
Hello again. Long-time no see. I’ve been stupidly busy lately and haven’t gotten around to posting any blogs, but I’ll hopefully be posting a couple of blogs this week to catch up on what I’ve been doing. As you might remember we optimized some 3D-crates that we’d made during class a couple of weeks back. For “Assignment 1”, we were to choose one of our crates and texturize it. I chose to go with my cartoony crate out of the […]

GameJam!
We recently had our very first Game Jam session! It was a ton of fun and quite a learning experience.
We had to use Game Maker, so it was very simple sprite graphics and simple mechanics that had to be repeated throughout in order to make an exciting game. (Moving left and right, jumping etc).
Most teams were mixed with first, second and third year students. Obviously it was quite difficult for us first year students to make a worthwhile contribution, since most […]

Game concept challenge
Last week there was some misunderstanding between the teachers here at Campus Gotland which resulted in us not having any lectures during the entire week. Instead we were given an assignment to make a game concept based on randomly generated narratives. To generate this narrative my group used the website TheyFightCrime, this website generates random narratives about a man and a woman who fights crime. The narrative my group generated was:
She is a blood-thirsty UN-senator with someone elses […]
