Tetris – the board game
In an assignment to redesign a real time digital game into a board game in a day, our group decided on Tetris.
Some changes needed to made to fully adapt the experience of Tetris into a board game. It is for example not possible to in a good way remove full lines and move down the above blocks, therefor we decided that they would stack and the score was determined by the amount of filled lines they […]

3D I – Assignment 1 – Final
And here it is! I present to you, the pinnacle of Assignment I, the Contemporary Urban Crate!
And with it comes a little discussion, of sorts, about the types of maps used and their purpose.
Final version of the crate, with 512p maps.
Diffuse Maps
First off, the Diffuse Maps. This is probably what most think about when they hear “texture”. The diffuse map is pretty much all the basic color information for the object. In this crate it is for example the […]

Advanced Assignment 3D-I Week 4 & 5
No blogpost last week, and no excuse for it other than me being lazy.. So I thought I’d sum up both this week and the last in one post.
Once pre-production was done, I immediately started with the model. Now, being restless, I actually started modeling a bit before going through the pre-production, mapping out the general shapes of the model to make sure that I got the proportions right at the beginning. Everything done here is strictly based on what […]

3D Week 05 – Assignment 2: Visual update
Hello!
This post is just a visual update of the assignment 2 for the 3D1 course. The screenshots is from my second attempt on this model as the first one was kind of sloppy done.
The new model has a total poly-count of 536, and a tris-count of 997. The first model had a poly-count of 799 and a tris-count of 1509, so there is a lot less of polygons in this version and this one is much more optimised. When […]

Chalice Update
As well as finishing up my crates I have completed the model for my museum assignment this week. I have optimized the model and created the UV map, now I need to finish the texture set complete with diffuse, specular and normal maps. Here is a visual update of what I have done so far.

3D Week 5 – Fully Operational (Chest)
Greetings!
So this week it was time to wrap up the first assignment, i.e. the chest. And so that is what I’ve been doing. In this post I will go through what kinds of different texture maps the 3D object has and what they do.
Diffuse Texture Map
Every object needs at least three different texture maps to look good. The first one is the diffuse texture.
The diffuse is basically and simply the color of the object. Straight color along with some self […]

My first Game Jam
My first jam. This Friday we had the opportunity to participate in a game jam on school campus. I have never done this before so I figured it would be a great opportunity for me to see how things work and test learning under pressure.
Even more important to get to know new people from the 2 and 3 years so I´ll have someone to learn from in the future.
We were a team of 6, two people from first year […]

Advanced Hard Surface Modeling Assignment – Finish the Model
Last week consisted of me trying to figure out how to build the mech and what I needed to change in the concept to make it work. This week has been all about finishing the model, construction wise. By the end of last week I was basically finished with the model but I knew that I had made a ton of mistakes regarding clean up, since I’m used to make models for product rendering and not for games. The difference […]
