3D and Screenshot Analysis
Right, so time to dust of the ol’ blog!
This term we are starting the courses 3D I and Advanced Game Design, so mostly posts will be related to those.
And as it happens this first post will be about the first week in 3D I.
The week started with a lecture, and subsequent workshop, in picture theory.
The lecture brought up much that was similar to what had already been mentioned in 2D-classes last year, however I do welcome repetition on the […]

3D Class – Week 1
This is my post about the screenshot analysis and the temp level that we did during the first week of 3D class. It’s a tiny bit more than 1000 words long (we were supposed to write 750-1000 words), but I just had too much to say…I hope it’s okay anyway!
PART I: Screenshot analysis
(The purple lines are directed at Batman and the cyan lines at the standing character.)
In this first image there’s a tilted perspective which makes the composition […]

Whoop! whoop! we’re doing 3d
Went to bed early tonight, wakes up in the middle of the night, realize I sould have done something yesterday, proofread this and upload this.
So, we have now had our first week of school, for our first lesson in 3d class we had a recap of the elements of art and an assignment where we analysed screenshots in groups and here is a short recap of what our group noticed.
Here we have diagonal lines pointing inwards and uppwards making […]

Welcome
My name is Lucas Chang, I’ve been a first-year student for about a week now, and so far it’s been a wonderful experience.
This will be my blog over the next 2-3 years while studying game design and graphics, here at Uppsala university, campus Gotland. The things I’ll be posting to this blog will consist of assignments I’ve done during the weeks, to the occasional journals and/or various personal works.

Yesterday our roleplaying group met at my place and finished our DnD characters. It went a lot better when we took it slow and went through everything from the beginning. Since I’m the DM I’m going to read through the adventure a couple of times before we play it, probably on Wednesday.
Today we started going through mechanics, dynamics and aesthetics (MDA). I studied game development at another school last year, but I dropped out – however, I did read a […]

3D – Week 1
Hello everyone!
After a long break I’m back and at it, and this time I’ll be mainly writing about 3D. I’ve never worked with 3D before, so this is completely new to me, but I’ll be doing my best and practicing hard, and hopefully I will learn something from it.
Last week we all came back from after a long summers’ break, and I’ll be going through what we did during our first two 3D-lessons. I’ll try to keep it short and […]

Blog revival and 3D Week 1
After a break in the summer i’m back into the blogging game. I’ve started a new course in 3D and I will for ten weeks post 3D related stuff. This week I will be analyzing three different screenshots from different games and I will also be posting some of my work I’ve worked on throughout the week. I will start with the screenshots. I will talk about what makes them good and/or bad from an artist’s perspective, let’s get started!

Starting up!
So for the first time in my life I am getting an official place to gather work, ideas, and other things. A first step on the path I’ve just set up on. Hopefully it will be filled with content as the coming months passes and the education proceeds. So cheers for the future!

Week 36: Principles of Art Applied to 3D Games and Intro to 3D
Hello! It’s a new year and I’ve got a new course to dig into. It’s time to put this blog back into active service, this time it’ll stay that way. I promise!
This week has been quite eventful, with a focus on image composition and our first try at using the 3DS Max software.
So, to start off: Image Composition!
Geometrical, diagonal and low-key. This picture provides a sense of high tension and danger by using the lines to convey that something […]
