Working with the UI
Hello again, it’s time for another post about our 10 week project “Possession”!
This week I started on working with the User Interface. The UI is what the player can see on the screen, such as health bars and current power-ups. This artifact can be a little difficult to work with, since I have to discuss a lot about what looks good, and how we want the UI to look in game. I started out drawing icons for the elements fire, […]

Game project – The week of the Trees
First of im gonna start with talking about the last post. In the parallax picture you could se a soft mist around the mountains. I changed that to fit the art style we are going for.
Here you can see it. I made a swirly and strong mist instead of the soft one.
And now to what I have been working on this week.
Trees I have mainly worked on trees for the background. I don’t know how many I have done […]

First Post
I have to do this, don’t I?
Oh well.
First post ever, guess I should introduce myself, aswell as what I’m going to write on this blog.
My name is Jonas Lundgren, I’m currently studying game design and programming at Uppsala University Campus Gotland in Sweden. I’m 18 years old (turning 19 in one week though!) and love basically anything that has to do with games and gaming.
The games I currently play the most are Dota 2 and World […]

Gamejam Afterthoughts
Participated in my first ever gamejam yesterday, and despite it not turning out exactly optimal, it still was one of the most fun things I have ever done. This was also a quite short gamejam, spanning only 7 hours, from 11:00 to 18:00.
We were to make a game based on the words everyday and doom, and those two words could be freely interpreted. After some quick scouting around, I made a group together with William Nordin, Simon Strandh, […]

Resurrection
Perhaps it’s about time to resurrect this blog. Perhaps it’s about time to resurrect this blog.
There are several reasons to this, but the most pressing one is that I won’t finish the current course (5SD033, “Game Development – Introduction”) if I don’t post blog posts.
Might be good to present what I’m currently doing aswell. At this moment, me and the rest of group 7 (aka The Ladybugs, consisting of myself, Tomas Lindell, Malin Lundqvist, Andreas Calmius, Måns Löf and

Tuesday Update
It has been a while since my last post now, much due to the workload of our current courses. As expected I did not finish the animations I had planned on completing last week. I did manage to finish the sneak animation although it is still colourless, an effect that was very much appreciated in the game. We had not originally planned on having her colours look different when sneaking but considering the strong visual feedback it provides we are […]

Tileset!
Alright so I made a tileset for a game that i’m working on with some classmates. The game is a stealthy, 50s gangster game. It is top down and grid based so a tileset is perfect for this game. I studied many different tilesets before I started, this process was for about an hour. I wanted to have something from around the 50s so I took references from the TV-series madmen and other pictures. I noticed that there were many […]

The Lonely Programmer
Leonard was still sick today and i haven’t heard from Oliver all day so I’ve been working alone.
In the morning i went to to the classroom early even though i knew the class wasn’t until the afternoon(totally) and worked on the collision. I was writhing the logical parts needed to fill up the code template Leonard found during the weekend but never managed to finish. The parts that take the player’s position plus/minus height/2 and compares it to the other […]

New blogg
My last blogg seemed to have some problem with showing comments for some reason. So I thought that I would just make another one since I wasn’t too fond of the old one anyway.
If anyone would be interested to see what I actually wrote in the last blog I will link it below. None of the post is newer than the 13th Februari though.

Artifact of the week: Collision
Alright, last week I worked on Learning Box2D and make a project where I would use it together with SFML. We(me and another coder in the group) had some problems initially as we first had wrong versions of both above listed “tools”. So after we figured out that the SFML that we had been using before we started was 64 bits and that the Box2D we had wasn’t compiled for VS 2012 either we got them working together. Box2D is […]
