Drones
The very first enemy
The Drone is the first enemy the player encounter. It has low health and cannot shoot. In the concept document it was called “Kamikaze”, which by indicated by its name flew into the Behemoth to deal damage. The Drone in our game does this aswell. It moves towards the Behemoth to crash into it but we changed the name cause a “Drone” sounds and it is easier to pronounce.
Stats for the Drone

Art Assets and Concepts
Making a game is a team effort, so you have to make sure everyone is on the same page. As the led artist I wanted to make sure to create a game with the same felling and art style. So the first week I set out to create the art assets we were gonna use, a color palette and the brushes.
Color Palette
We also made sure to get a lot of inspirational pictures we could keep in mind […]

Blog:3 Scrum
How has scrum affected our development?
When we were working on our first concept (Demonology), I felt like that we had no idea what we were doing. Every time we meet, no one had any idea of what was going on or what we were supposed to do. But in this new project we all could keep up with the progress and what was going, that is very much thanks to scrum.
Scrum as an agile framework is a way for a […]

Animation and Assets
Creating the characters for the game was a challenge. I have never made an animation before and I was really scared that I wasn’t going to be able to perform. All my worries was put to sleep once I started. My fear was hindering me.
Just keeping the 12 principles in mind was really helpful.
Animation assets
We needed two different crystals to clarify they did different things for the player. We started with only the red crystal but after the […]

Playtesting
How has playtesting affected your development?
When you are in a project it can be hard to see the whole picture but when someone from the outside gets an input they can come with incredibly solutions to problems the group didn’t even realize existed. Things the group thought would be fun weren’t. Things the group thought would be clear was misunderstood by the players. So the group really made sure to get the different playtesters thoughts and inputs documented so they […]

Hi Teodor,
First off, your text has a structure that makes it easy follow your arguments and your trail of thought. It’s well conveyed why you wanted to redesign the movement and even more so as you gave examples of what you were striving for, and what you tried to avoid in form of already existing titles. The work process is well strung together with the text’s structure and the idea of using gears in the movement feels like a creative […]

Hi,
Even though I have design as my minor and only have a limited experience when it comes to unity and scripting, I found your post to be a really enjoyable read. Your text is easy to follow, and it’s nicely divided along with pictures that supports it.
In the first part it is interesting to see how the task was done in a graspable walkthrough manner. I think this is very useful, especially for beginners like myself but also for others […]

The way you divided your text and put the different parts of it under headlines made the post easy to follow and to what was what.
I feel like your introduction on how the process is done started of really good, but towards the end of it you jumped a bit back and forth. In the second to last sentence you write about a finished product, but in the following sentence you start of with “after that” and describe something that […]

Comment on Blog Post #3
Hey duder.
Good blog post, although not much to comment on. I find it interesting how your group also chose to communicate via Discord like our group, and not via slack or some other channel. We also have some of our daily stand-ups on discord, and our project manager has to remind us to update it as well. Seeing how you feel your Sprint-Reviews and Sprint-Plannings are effective, I would be hesitant to recommend having it via voice-chat on Discord like […]

Checkpoints
The game is split between several stages, each consisting of the player advancing through an autoscroller fighting minor mobs until the leviathan appears, covered in a natural armor. At this point the player hooks a harpoon into one of the whales armor plates via a small whole created by the crystals growing on the whale and rips it off. This reveals a weak spot where the player can fire it’s weapons to do damage, eventually driving away the whale and […]

Comment Archives: Week #3 – Carl Leong, Team Devourer
Don’t sell yourself so short. Despite saying otherwise, you clearly do have something to say about it. From reading your post, it’s obvious that you understand what scrum is, the way it works, how you and your group are applying it to develop a game, the accompanying ups/downs, and how you have been dealing with them. Even if you aren’t necessarily familiar with scrum, I can see and say you still ‘get it,’ and any growing pains are just part […]
