Board Game Analysis: Betrayal at House on the Hill
The assignment continues! Like last time, we were tasked to play and analyse a board game. This week, we decided to play the game Betrayal at House on the Hill. It is a turn-based game for between 3 and 6 people, and can be summarized as “explore a haunted house together, until one of you becomes a traitor, than defeat the traitor”.

3D Computer Graphics – Blog Post Week 03 – Part 1
This week we were asked to get into groups and try to optimize each others crates that we had been working on lately. Through the use of 3DS Max’s xView you can locate some of the common problems that can arise when modeling in 3D. Some of the things we have learned to correct are overlapping faces and vertices and how to make sure polygons consisting of more than 4 faces are taken care of.
Since none of my original teammates was present […]

Week 3 & 4: The Workshop
The previous weeks we have mainly been working with creating games. During the third week me and my assigned group were tasked to create a game based on a random concept given to us by the teacher. Our concept was that the player is a reporter in a war, and cannot use weapons or violence in completing their missions. We ended up with the idea of the setting being in a war between France and Spain. The player, as the […]

Yumbo Snak Cake
This week we were finally given the other teams’ SiSSYFiGHT mods so that we could play and analyze them. The version we got was called Yumbo Snak Cake. It worked more or less like the original SiSSYFiGHT, with some modifications.
Their memo said that they had to include three types of candy called Yumbo Snak Cakes, Neon Sports Drinks and Pleather Fruit Rollems. They did this by letting the player buy candy using their points (self esteem points in the original game). From the […]

Texturing
This week we have been working on creating UV and diffuse maps in the 3D course. The theme I chose for the crate that I have been texturing was medieval; I decided to keep the style realistic and took inspiration from games such as Skyrim. I wanted the crate to look as if it was something that had been used for a while, not being brand new. Even though I wanted it to look somewhat old I still wanted […]
