A summer update
So after the awards i spent my time working, i had applied for an internship but didn’t get any response from that. So i decided to sit down and start writing on a game concept, trying out some new stuff, and taking up drawing again.
This summer proved to be more hectic than i have expected it to be, but the future have never been that predictable for me, but for this time it does look a bit great, some new […]

Awarded! Finally
So the Swedish Game Awards ceremony went down at the 18th of June so here is the update!
After presenting our game, the station was crowded due to the exterior design of the game and a lot of noises coming from the gathered crowd, we were finally ready for the ceremony that would be held the day after. I was getting everything ready for the evening, chosen my outfit and checking with my brother if he was ready to be picked […]

First Year: Done!
Participating in this game design course at Campus Gotland, University of Uppsala, made me evolve artistically and as a designer. I had come to realize a lot of things, gained experience in new areas, and finally but not least: Taking up drawing again. And this Blog will be the proof for me to recognize my own development.
Three projects where made:
1- Project minetrain: This was to learn how to build and create game concepts, design documents and how to pitch our […]

Big Game Project (week7)
We have now entered crunch and everyone is working their ass off, the days are longer but they fly by even faster.
Our priority’s changed a bit so my focus this week has been to work with feedback animations, tower upgrades and our game trailer. Unfortunately the upgrades took much longer than expected but I still manage to make some animations and begin on the trailer
What took the most time with the towers was to come […]

Into BETA! Heavy working!!!!! And a Facebook page is up!
At quality time this Tuesday we got scolded for not putting up our artwork in the game!
But me and the guys have been working a lot with graphics lately, and even I did some modeling:
siren light made in 3DS Max
Warning sign + pole, made in 3DS Max
I’m working on the menu screen, our input is almost finished, ill try to post some pictures tomorrow. And I’ve got an in-game footage here:
The level is still under construction but […]

Big Game Project (week6)
It’s been a productive week even dough the first days were spent discussing feedback from last week’s alpha presentation, we also had a meeting with a teacher about our graphical style and production pace which we needed some guidance and advice with.
Our work flow have been effected by that we constantly asked for feedback about the things we were doing on the graphical part instead of finishing it first, we believed this would save us time so that we didn’t […]

Graphics on the way!
A meeting with the group was held with our course coordinator, the call it “Quality Time”. So the point of this meeting is that we present what we have and how far we have come. We passed through the checkpoints but there is one thing still, and that is the graphics. We still don’t have all the textures in place, so we have Adam and Alex working on that.
Here is a screen sample:

The walls have been changed to […]

Big Game Project (week5)
My focus in big game project this week has been the animations of the enemies for our alpha presentation. I continued on the Pikeman front animation which I started with last week and as I added frames I noticed how blurry the arms, legs and pike became after rotating and moving them, which added extra work since I had to clean up the worst parts.
I made one side at the time and begun with the front and the back. When […]

The Logotype
In this new design I used previous experience that I gained from creating the banner and tried to apply it to the creation of our group logo.
First i made a lot of sketches of different styles and layouts, i filled a whole paper to add a lot of variations:
Sketching for a logotype
I asked the group which one they prefered and that ended up being the puzzle ball.
My first question was how i could design a puzzle ball by using Photoshop, […]

The project
It has been a while since my last post! Working on the first drafts for all the animations and map objects takes up most of my time right now. The focus for us artists on the project has been to create as much placeholder graphic as possible to fill out the alpha version of the game, these placeholders then works as the foundation for the final product.
The best thing about working with first and second drafts and placeholder graphics, is […]
