Scrum and Sirens

The focus of this post is to reflect and consider how Scrum as an Agile a framework has affected the development process of this project, and how has it affected my personal workflow.

As objective as one can be, Scrum is in theory a great framework to work by. Increasing collaboration between team members, adapting and updating the product when new information is considered, identifying obstacles, iterative production, etc. In practice, however, applying Scrum is not as easy as it seems.
Personally, […]

During the last few weeks, since the beginning of the production of our game Omibozu, me and my team really have tried our best to use the Scrum methodology.
It was of course something new to us, and it definitely forced us to change the way we approached the work we had to do.
It wasn’t a simple think to set up: during the first few weeks, I feel like it has been a bit rough to really understand the […]

Working with scrum – Has it been beneficial?

For the duration of the project, we as students were asked to work and apply the scrum framework to improve our workflow and thus the quality of our final product. In our case, the framework consists of weekly sprints in combination with daily stand-up meetings in person. Furthermore and in comparison to previous projects, we are working with a product backlog to keep sight on all the assets and artifacts that are needed for our current project.  In this blog […]

Scrum for making Boaty

Scrum is an agile framework for teams to break down their work into tasks that is supposed to be completed within a time period called sprints.  Seeing the progress and making daily meetings called daily scrums.
In ouroboros we have one-week sprint planning, we have made a backlog to keep track on what are supposed to do for Alpha, Beta and Gold. We do sprint planning on Mondays and review on Fridays where we figure out how many […]

Scrum

This week we have been tasked to talk about scrum and how it has affected our development. In other words, how has the scrum method worked compared to other methods of developing a product as a team? Well, the answer to that question is “In relation to what?”. I have never followed any method other than that of a basic schedule, and most group projects I’ve worked on has lasted only one week – the exception being a project lasting […]

Insight #3 – Scrum

For the development of Behemoth we are using Scrum as our production framework, this decision was taken by the instructors in order for us to learn how to work with it and offer a time-structured design process.
Scrum is an Agile methodology, and as such, its main focus is flexible and iterative collaboration. Scrum specifically is aimed at smaller teams and uses short production cycles called “sprints”, which typically last between one week and one month, these start with a “sprint […]

The Scrumptious parts of Scrum

As you all know, this week we are supposed to write about our life and times with the agile development method, Scrum.
Scrum and me: Even though I’ve worked with scrum in the past 5 weeks, I still can’t really say anything about it at all. Might this because I don’t have anything to compare it to and that the only place I worked at was in the service industry? Probably.  I can however say how scrum affects my workflow.

THEN BOOM. SCRUM… 5SD064 Hanna Aho Lind

Hello again, fellow classmates and teachers. Like everyone else this week I´m writing about scrum and how it has affected my developement.
Scrum is a method we have almost been forced to adept in the production from the teachers of the course, hence why we in group Troll have worked closely with it. We have had several lectures about it, and even an individual lesson from our scrum-master Kim.
For me to be able to tell how scrum has affected me and […]

How a Scrum Works
This is to make the un-initiated understand the basics of what Scrum is, and how it can be used as a framework. Feel free to skip if you understand Scrum.
The basic principles of Scrum is to work in an iterative environment consisting of small teams that self-organize tasks that need to be performed in order to ship a product. Some roles in the team are:
Product Owner– The person or entity the team is working for, and determines […]

Scrum and Its Effects on Development

It is my experience that Scrum is a great lightweight framework for iterative development but it also comes with certain conditions that greatly affect development.
I have had some experience with Scrum in the past inside of an office environment and as such can make some comparisons between how Scrum has affected development based on the circumstances in which it is used.
Source: https://www.visualstudio.com/learn/what-is-scrum/
Overall, Scrum is perhaps the most competent tool in which to have a cycle of iterative development. It allows a […]

Blog 3: Hello Scrum

Hellu!
In this entry I will talk about how my team is working with scrum and how it affects my work and development.
Structure
For me scrum has meant more structure in my development. I get a clear overview what needs to be done and when. I think it’s really good to have a product backlog where we list all the assets for the game and then plan each sprint what needs to be done to meet up with the goal for […]
