Big Game Project (week9)
The course ’’Big Game Project’’ has now passed and our game Tower Offensive was displayed at Gotland Game Conference last week. During three days people were allowed to play our game among with many other games created by other students at Uppsala University Campus Gotland.
It was extremely fun to see so many people playing and enjoying our game, we also received much valuable feedback which we can use to improve our game in the future.

Big Game: GGC and Beyond!
So much for being back on a weekly schedule!
The last weeks before the Gotland Game Conferance (GGC) were quite crunchy and so the blog had to suffer. To summarize what I did I’ll give you these words: feedback implementation and bug fixing. I added particles aplenty and also added the final animations for various different game objects.
All of our hard work was rewarded during GGC as we managed to secure no less than three awards!
The awards were as following:
Best presentation […]

Big Game Project – GGC
The course Big Game Project is now over and the games were on display for three days during GGC. It was absolutely amazing this year, and we got a lot of valuable feedback that will help us as we continue to develop our game.
Our game Tower Offensive actually ended up winning three awards!
Best Presentation Award – This one is mostly to Emelie’s credit, but we all took part of the glory.
Cha-Ching Award – Given to the game with the best […]

GGC – Big Game Project
This week a rushed to get a stable version of the digital game, which we showed during Gotland Game Conference (GGC). Even though I did as much as I could without crashing, the build still had some bugs during GGC which I had to fix each day after GGC. One of the changes we did the day before GGC was that instead of having a server computer, the server computer could act as a player. That way we didn’t extra […]

Big Game Project: Eight week
I thought I didn’t have so much to do as from the previous week I finished Everything but I did get some more tasks assigned to me, it was not a problem as there was not much of them. They were easily done and easily implemented.
GGC is nearing and the game is getting the last touches…

Mechropolis Trailer
Here is the trailer for our new game, Mechropolis!
Explore a long gone civilization and fuse together the only inhabitants left, the robots, to solve puzzles and make your way through the cave!
I think Kenth made a great job with the trailer and it really captures the feeling of our game.

Last week before GGC
This is it, today we’re doing our final build for Gotland Game Conference! The past week has been very intense with hard work and long hours, but we’ve been able to finish up a lot of things. Apart from a few tweaks here and there, the graphical assets are almost completely done. That has also meant that we’ve been able to iterate on a few things that didn’t quite meet our standards, and some things that needed new textures. It’s […]

Big Game Project – Week 8
I’ve been working a lot with the tutorial this week. First of all I re-made the structure of the code to be slightly more bearable, although it’s still frustrating having to “hard-code” variables and strings so much. Since we need to guide the players with pointers we need to know exactly how it pans out, meaning that it needs to always be the same.
We also had Beta testing this week, where we got a lot of feedback. We made a […]

Beta and bugs – Big Game Project
This has been a long and hectic week as we have had to finish a beta build and work on the feedback we had gotten from that beta testing session. There has been a lot to fix as this was the first time other people got to test the game and we noticed a lot of bugs we hadn’t noticed before. Besides a lot of bug fixing, I have also started working on a rulebook for the table top version, […]

Particle effects
One week left until Gotland Game Conference! Since I had finished my assigned work, but we still needed particle effects, I took the responsibility to fix that. These are the effects I needed to do:
Attack projectile
Attack trail
Attack when hitting target
Robots when being Stunned
Stun Idle for Robots
Robots when being Fused
Steam for the environment
Dust cloud for environment
This is the first time that I have ever worked with particle effects and it was a bit tricky to get the hang of it. I have […]

Big Game Project (week8)
The last week before GGC has passed and there have been many things going on. At first I worked on all the feedback animations and re-sizing images before I could start on the game trailer since the game had to be more or less complete before we could record the gameplay material.
Here are some of the animations I made: (Death animation, Ability ”killer” animation and tower placement and upgrade animation)
Creating the trailer was quite a challenge at […]

Big Game Project: seventh week
This has been one of the most hectic weeks of our production, as we thought the Beta was earlier than it actually was. Some of us sat up all night trying to finishing up some of the ”last” touches of our levels. It was not pleasant to hear that we had worked those insane hours almost for nothing. After that we who had worked so late took a brake the rest of the weekend. Even though I thought to myself […]
