3DI: Assignment 3 Update – Mesh

This is what my finished mesh looks like. I feel like the UV-mapping has potential to go fairly painless, since he wears a lot of clothes which will have natural seams. If anything it’s his bald head that might cause trouble.

3D Week 8 – Assignment 3 update

Here’s a visual update on how my character model of Vinda is coming along. You can read more about my work with the character in my previous Assignment 3 related posts, and read more about the character herself in my post “About Vinda”.
I was supposed to have made this visual update last week, but due to a large amount of other work I hadn’t been able to finish […]

3D Week 8 – 3D scan, Retopo and Photogrammetry

During our eighth week in the 3D1 course we learned about modelling faces. One of the weeks’ exercises was to make a retopo of a 3D scanned head, meaning that we were to clean up the topography of the model, making it simpler whilst still maintaining the same shape. Those of us who wanted to got to try and make facial scans of our own heads to work with. In order to make a 3D scanned object you need to […]

3D I – Retopo and Photogrammetry

This week we got to try something a little different, namely to attempt a retopo of our own faces. This was done by first taking a bunch of pictures of our faces from different angles with reference marks drawn on our cheeks and foreheads, and then letting the software 123D catch interpret these and assemble into a 3D mesh, complete with photo textures. It does this be recognizing points that are shared between several photos and from that creating a […]

Blog report week 08

Facial scanning
During week 8 we were working with modelling human faces. One exercise we did during class was that we used a 3D scanned head and cleaned up the topography. Werther you wanted to use your own face or not was up to everyone to decide. I decided to use a head from http://www.123dapp.com/Gallery/catch, an Autodesk site where you can make 3D scans from photographs. I did this simply because I am not comfortable with seeing myself from all thinkable angles.  So […]

Week 7 & 8: Continuation on Space Shooter

The seventh week mainly went into fleshing out the core components of our new shooter. The paper prototype we worked on featured three lanes, each with a tree at the player’s end. In these lanes, the game master, representing the AI, places enemy cards which the player will be forced to react to and defend against. The player then places his or her cards in the lane they want to defend. Both player and enemy cards have different attack and […]

The Knytt Stories Assignment

Introduction
This rapport is about a group assignment by me, Malin Lundqvist, and my teammate, Simon Strandh. The assignment was to make a game using the Knytt Stories level editor and the restrictions were; the game cannot take more than 15 minutes to play and no text or signs were to be used. We had three weeks to complete the assignment.
We came up with the story of a princess who got afraid of taking the responsibility of being queen and the […]
