Gotland Game Conference 2014 – Day Three

Well, this one is kinda late. I guess it’s a good thing I’m still the same old me despite all of my experience (or maybe not). So… the GGC awards ceremony was the other day and it was rather dramatic. We didn’t win, but we weren’t expecting it either so that’s about it I guess. I was at least hoping that we would be nominated but I’d still be happy with not being that either.
I wasn’t expecting them to forget […]

Programming & Level Designing Tower Offensive, Pt 5 (Level 7-9)

Hello again!
This time it’s level 7-9, unfortunately Level 10 is cut off from our GGC plan (on my order), It needs some more work before I show it to the world and there are some other things that are going to require my time that are more important than a new level. Nine levels for a 10 week project with 8ish weeks of production before showcasing will simply have to do. But fear not, It’s going to show up later, […]

Gotland Game Conference 2014 – Day Two

I’m actually really tired so I’m not gonna drag on for too long.
Got to try a few new games today.
Outrageous Office (Anarchy Catfish Entertainment)This game is actually opposite ours… and not only that, it has an eerily similar idea for an input. Really fun game though, love th art style, music and the overall idea. A Knight’s Flail (Flying Turtles)The third Kinect game (the first one being ours and the second one being the entry above this one). This game […]

Gotland Game Conference 2014 – Day 1

Today was the first day of the conference, I arrived at 8 o’ clock with my team members and we got ready to set our game up and prepare for the days ahead. The first day is just a warmup however as there will only be students, teachers, staff, speakers (for the speeches on the following days) and the jury so the day was relatively calm and I had plenty of time to test some of the games on the […]

Final week

So, after having spent all weekend in the office, and the monday at home with stomach pains, we’re now on the final day of the final week.
In the last few days I’ve been working on solving some bugs, implementing the camouflage covers, redoing the vision cones (again) so that they are more intelligent, and a few related issues.
In addition to this, I’ve made some touchups on the camera controls, changing their scrolling speed and adding boundaries so that players no […]

Slightly Coded – Potbellied King – Dev. Post 8

Appearently blogging is something I need to get better at. So.. I’ve gone for what? A month without reporting on the progress (at least). Well, I’ll just summarize everything here.
Last time around the game had passed the Alpha testing and was developing along the usual lines, we added a proper character model for the King as the old one was basically two giant spheres and a cylinder cosplaying as a king. At first we wanted to bind the King to […]

Sneaky Ninja – Level Design

The last two weeks have been very stressful, lots of work have been done in order to finish up our game for the beta that was last week and the final presentation on GGC this week. I’ve worked on a lot of features, implementing GUI, creating highlights for all the items and abilities, implementing sound effects and music, as well as doing general tweaking and bug fixing. But the most fun and interesting thing I have been working on are the […]

Week 7! Beta! Trailer! Stuff!

INCREDIBLY busy week this was. First off we had a crunch to finish off the game for the Wednesdays beta testing.  I made a tutorial so new players could get into the game more easier. The beta event went well, we had a lot of good feedback. Our game is really turning out like a niche game, some like it, some find it very frustrating. One things i learnt about the tutorial was not to overwhelm the player. I will […]
