Spline Level Editor

Inspiration
Hi, I recently found this video about how some of the things worked when Rayman Legends was made and I thought that the way they could bend and form their platforms when creating levels looked really useful.I wanted to try doing something similar just for fun and I had never worked with programming meshes before and thought it could be useful in the future.

My version
I used Unity for creating my spline thing, mostly because I also want to learn more about unity […]

Board game progress report (Serious Games) – 20131016

Today, my group in serious games sat down and started working on our board game assignment that we got in that course. The main purpose of our game is to inform people about disease transmission. So we began by doing research on the subject, put together what each of us had found and worked our way from there. Note that the design below is the current rough version of what we got, it will most likely changes as we keep […]

Paper Prototype

This Monday my group and I started working on a paper prototype for our shoot em up.In the first version of our game we tried to make the prototype turn-based, where the player was supposed to kill the enemies who were controlled by random (We used Random.org) movements and predetermined actions. This didn’t work out very well so we scrapped that Idea. Then, this Tuesday we used a battle-ship like system. This worked much better, the only problem was that […]

Today I made a new Concept our protagonist. I spent some time on it and I’m happy with the outcome. But I feel that for a 2D game that my concept won’t fit very well, but Ladbon wanted more another concept so here it is.

Game Jam – Friday

This post is gonna be a little bit out of date, but whatever…
Last friday I participated in the Uppsala University Campus Gotland Game Jam. which is basically an event in which all the students pair toghether and make games in a short time. The tools that were allowed to use was Game Maker and seemingly most graphics-oriented programs.
I paired of with two friends and a guy I had just met in the passing. We were a total of four people, […]

University Projects: Snakes

I’ve lately been working in this awesome group of people from the university with a Shoot’m up and the more we build of it the more we understand that we are getting closer to something that will become awesome.
Looking at it objectively though the game is simply a top-down game, where you are playing as a person lost in different areas, trying to find coverage with your cellphone so you can call for help, while doing so you are attacked […]

Optimize meshes

When we started working on CoBots last year, neither me or any of the other two graphic students had any experience working with 3D. We all wanted to learn tough, so we decided to go for a 3D game anyway, since it would fit our idea better.
I have had a lot of fun working with 3D and I have learned much! One of the things that we’ve learned the hard way is to optimize meshes.
When we started making meshes for […]

Prototyping…

So today (13-10-15), after the lecture, we sat down as a group, this time I had an idea that I wanted to try out. Now this wasn’t a new idea, I could never really shake that image of players being mischievous kids pranking an old lady. But this time I thought about it in a way that could work as a game, I am yet to find out how wrong I could be, still:
We started out with one player being […]

Boring Warrior – a Major Assignment

For me and my group’s major assignment, we were handed two words which we needed to base our 2D Space Shoot ‘Em Up on. Those word were “Boring” and “Warrior”… Yeah…
In previous meetings we settled on what our game should be about and what the game should contain. We decided on a game where you play as the final spark of “Inspiration and Liveliness” inside the mind of a bored person.
The mind (the playing field) is going to start […]
