BGP is our second big project in our program. The course is a 10 weeks course but with around 7 weeks development. Our team has 7 members, 2 programmers, 4 artists and 1 designer/producer. The game is named Kei and is a 3D action game with a 45 degree top down view.

BGP week 2
Alright, week 2. This week I mostly focused on the jungle. I made vegetation assets like bamboo, grass and trees and some rocks that the player can pick. Most of these assets will probably be improved upon at some point but at the moment we just want to get as much props as possible to test the game. I also started creating the elevator the villagers use to travel between the jungle and the floating islands.

So this week our class started our Big game project course. My group are making a game called Kalevala which is based on an old finnish national epic containing 50 different rune songs. I am responsible for character art. We are going for a quite simplistic style with inspiration from finnish artists such as Tove Jansson and Joseph Alanen.

This week has been quite a rollercoaster as far stress goes. Last week, I pitched a 2 day game idea for a third year project, hoping to inspire someone to take me on in their group, but that didn’t happen.
It wasn’t until this Sunday that I contacted Nayomi and asked to be part of her group, to which she responded that she’d need to talk to her group on Monday in order to see what was needed.

Första veckan
Den här veckan har jag till störst del jobbat med karaktärerna för spelet Sam and Nicole. Tanken är att vi ska kombinera två olika typer av material, bakgrunderna ska målas i akvarell och skannas in och karaktärerna ska ritas i datorn men fortfarande se skissiga ut. Vi vill skapa ett nytt intresseväckande utseende och prova hur det blir att mixa två olika stilar.
För att få stilarna att ändå samspela har vi valt att använda få färger och mycket gråskalor. Bakgrunderna, som […]
