Recap!

So it’s been a while since my last post! school has been insane lately with rounding up the last big assignments for the previous two courses. this semester I studies motion capture for games and second level 3D modelling. Both courses have been extremely time consuming and also intersected with the holiday leave, which proved a wee bit hectic in the end. So to sum up some of my progression in 3D during this course I will show some screenshots […]

Final 2D assignment

During the past couple of weeks I’ve been working on the two final assignments of the 2D course. They were optional and available to do if you wanted a higher grade at the end of the course.
The first assignment was to take this rough sketch and make it solid.

Here’s the first step I made, constructing the body with simple shapes like cylinders and circles:

The hips are a box to help show which way they’re tilted. The next step […]

Holiday Drawings and back on the Isle!

I had this drawing spree during my winter vacation. Animals, environtment and first try with anime fanart after watching the fantastic series SAO – Sword Art Online.Experimenting with different colors is what I enjoy the most at this moment. I also tried out a new technique using only the lasso tool while creating the mountains on the Mountain climber painting. The process turned out to be much faster and more efficient than having to draw them by hand like I […]

Starting on My First Mod Pack – A Quick Post

Ok, so I have had plans for starting my modding “career” with GTA V when it launches later this January and I have already started to do some minor research on what I want to do. Well, I guess I’ll have to wait a bit longer since the game got pushed back to March 24 (instead of January 27).
I would have wanted to get the game before starting to design the models and what not, to get an understanding of […]

Helping programmers

During the winter break, I didn’t get much drawing done. I did some small work on the assignment we were given, but didn’t finish it until I got back to the island. However, I did help some programmers with their art in the game they are making; to program a game is their final assignment. I was asked to draw two different blocks; one solid and one that could be destroyed, a background, two players, an enemy, a bomb and an explosion. […]

Lighting of character

Its been a little break with the blog posts over Christmas and new year but now i’m back and I will try to write at least one post per week.
I had an assignment over the Christmas break to create light and forms in my character. It was a big challenge for me personally because I have never lighted a character or painted this seriously.
But given it is my first time ever doing something like this I am very pleased with […]

Pre-Week 16: Finished Lighting Character

So, the lighting of the character is now finished. Originally I worked on lighting a shiny sphere and the result I achieved can be seen below.

The basic idea to applying light to any object is to first cover the object in a single color. Second you determine where the light source is in relation to the object, then color the area that is closest to the light source in a brighter gradient, while areas farther from or not touched […]
