Week #6 – The Postmortem

What is the end result and what have you learnt?
A tough question to answer outright, but since so much has changed within the last ten weeks I hope I can outline what I have learnt and the end results of my first game project.
I spent most of my time working on the project in tandem with learning Unity as we went along. Every problem we faced in the production phase was a new challenge for my fellow programmer and I […]

Week #5 PlayTesting

On three different occasions we have had our game play tested by the masses of Game Design 1 as well as the amount of play testing I have done myself for our game.
Having people play test the game you’re creating is a rewarding experience in general, if you look at it positively it is a win-win situation. Either they play the game and like the work you are doing, hate it and give lots of feedback, or are somewhere between […]

#4 PreBeta Work: Player Feature #2

As the time before Beta Presentations draws closer and closer I find myself having to delegate my time efficiently and effectively. It doesn’t help that I recently purchased the game Celeste and played it a shit ton this week and forgoed some of my work, but I did manage to make a lot of progress this week!
Working on the Big Boi Weapon
This Week most of the coding I did revolved around our Player Big Boi Gun as well as setting […]

Week #3 – Scrumy Scrum Scrum

Scrum.
Scrum.
Scruuuuuhhhhmmmmmm.
Scrum has been an interesting innovation to the group currently known as Archon. It was a hard process to get started, but now with some time and effort I feel as though we are living by the rules & recommendations of the system. As for affecting our development I can’t say for certain whether it has been positive or negative affect on the development, but I can say that it has helped our process quite a bit!

I feel like the […]

My First 3 Years of Game Design

Documenting what I did while at Uppsala University Campus Gotland while Studying Game Design & Programming.

My First Game Jam: Postmord – October 2017
Before we started Unity in the Winter quarter we had the chance to attend a Game Jam organized by the school faculty called “My First Jam” where we all had 8 hours to create a game within Game Maker 2.0 with the theme “You Had One Job”. I banded together with some of the other students to create […]

Who Am I?

Hello! I am Marcus Ford, a 1st year student studying Game Design & Programming at Uppsala University Campus Gotland. I was Born in England, but I spent the first half of my life in Sweden and the second half in the United States, only to come back to Sweden to study partially because of the education (but mostly because of the free tuition).
Why Am I Here?
I have wanted to be a game designer for as long as I […]
