Theme Park!
Right away after finishing the first project, we are plunged in to the next one!
My group have devised a game concept called Totemic, it will be a competitive multiplayer game featuring “king of the hill” type gameplay. Four players will each control two characters with a joystick and a trackball and battle each other in a jungle themed arena.

The first week has gone by quickly, and we are ahead of schedule 🙂
I started out the week by creating a character that was moveable by using an xbox controller, unity had scripts for moving the character, but unfortunately they were written in java (therefor non-compatible with c# scripts which we are using) and they did not support did xbox controller, so I had to re-do them from scratch.

Have been working on shaders all day today in order to meet my enviromental aritists wishes. I have not been able to fully reach it and now we are looking at other solutions for shadows. Day 1: School meeting with the new Big Game Project group to discuss design, schedule and planning etc. We’re going to work together five days a week from 9-5. The design of the game was shorten from a massive sandbox bear simulator to a polished tutorial as well as an open world to explore after. Everything was discussed; graphic style, particle effects, sounds etc. I am very much hyped to start working as the environment 3D artist.

Day 1: School meeting with the new Big Game Project group to discuss design, schedule and planning etc. We’re going to work together five days a week from 9-5. The design of the game was shorten from a massive sandbox bear simulator to a polished tutorial as well as an open world to explore after. This week we have been continuing to work on the levels for the alpha of the game. We have a total of 4 different levels not counting the treasure room, central chamber or the outside area in which you start the game in.
The work has went pretty well and today we had three levels that where playable. We had a play test today where the entire group played the levels and then commented on what they liked and didn’t like […]

The conclusions drawn from the project in retrospect
The main conclusion derived from analyzing this project is that a game productions most instrumental asset is communication. For this project, the key to a working communication was a combination of the structure provided by the use of the MDA perspective on game development, which gave the group a common language and frame of reference when discussing every design based decision of the game. And the organizational focus that came from the use of the scrum model for planning and […]

Today the morning was spent creating proper project documentation.As a part of this, a physical SCRUM was created to create a easily accessible planning medium, in exchange for the digital ones under the jurisdiction of the producer alone.I got Yellow. So sneaky.
Next up I converted all the Lists previously used in the generation of the playing field to a two-dimensional array, making the Data more easily accessible in the code.
