Synapse, Spark and GGC
GGC is closing in and I haven’t done a blog-post since the start of this project. Since then a lot of things have changed.
Synapse our first concept failed as an idea which resulted in us pivoting to the concept that is now called Spark. Spark is a dark themed platformer which is offering a challanging combat system against different monsters you meet across the map.

University Projects, Synapse week 5 and Spark Week 1
So, long week, did not have the time to actually write a blog post until now.
So what has happened here during this week. To start it off, we started week 5 trying to get something more and playable out of the game, we weren’t able to, I worked with the presentation and helping out on programming, but for no good, we were stuck with a dead product that almost no one in the team believed in.

We had our meeting and decided to stick with what we had. So now we just need to get that working and then perfect that.
I’m relieved and feel pretty good after the weekend. We took the time off, no one was thinking about the game and everyone was doing pretty good.
Friday I had a meeting with Håkan, who told us to not worry about it and that we were pretty good on time. Also we were told we were going […]

University Project: Synapse Week 2
This week we have been working with finishing off the Placeholder UI and Animation Backgrounds since we are using static backgrounds for our animations.
Overall it has been bumpy, to say the least, Programmers been sick and/or late most of the week aswell as the lead designer and primary animator has been late or sick at times.
So, 2D work I’ve done recently has been training, mostly Perspective, facial construction and Line work. Nothing that spectacular.

Time for focusing on AI
After a meeting with the course supervisors today I have decided to refocus my report for this project. I came to the conclusion that my previous focus was too abstract. Instead i will be focusing on the work i do with the AI for the game. More specifically the Behavior Trees included in the Unreal Engine. My report will analyze this system and suggest how it could be applied the the project and finally assuming the project is successful how […]

Not as good day today. I spent the morning setting up the basics for the game’s Harakat mode where the player slows down time and enters a state preparing for a large Area of Effect attack. A full description will be posted when the details have been fixed.
For today I set up the basic triggers for activating the mode. First disabling the player’s movements as the character is to be stationary during the process. Luckily this does not disable input […]
