3D – Finishing the mech
Hello, I’ve been horrible at updating the blog lately so I’ll try to catch up. If you’ve read my previous posts you’ll know that I’ve been working on a mech. The tools I used for this was 3DS MAX for modeling and Photoshop with DDO plugin for texturing. I’ve actually completed it so I’ll show you a little of what I did and how I did it. Here below is the concept art I was following for this model.

So, we have now started our 5 weeks project where we are to build a functioning digital game, in theory. Our paper prototype was deemed good by our teacher, Marcus. He laughed quite a bit while playing it, and it felt like he thought the idea was good. We also managed to incorporate our keywords, Thurmaturgy and Summer well. Thurmaturgy as in our main character, our magician. Summer as in the design, taking place on a beach, with beach outfit. […]

Boulders: Reaching higher level, there will be boulders on the map. The player will not be able to dig through the boulder so they will need to go around.
Water filled tunnels: When an NPC fills up a tunnel with water the player will not be able to dig there. If they do, they will reach the water and drown. After a while the water will sink through the ground but the tunnel is filled with mud which slow the player […]

Enter surface: Go from underground to surface. The player can enter the surface to harvest the crops but the vision is heavily reduced.

This is how far I’ve gotten with the character model for assignment 3. I’m still not completely done with it and there are still a lot of things that I need to fix with it before I’ll be able to do the UV. The arms and legs have been really troublesome to do, and I’m not entirely sure if I’m doing them right. I’m a bit concerned about the seperate pieces (cloth, hat) as well… This is how far I’ve gotten with the character model for assignment 3.
