Dungeons & Dragons!

One of our first game designing experiences were when we got introduced to a board game called Dungeons and Dragons. This is a very old board game that has been inspiration to many board games today. Our task was to create a own character with different attributes and learn that the different stats would completely change the gameplay. If you play a mage you would need more wisdom to be able to cast your spells more effective and if you […]

Starting the second year!

New year and new knowledge incoming, for this year i have put main focus on learning 3D, so for that i have chosen 3 different 3D courses (this concern different areas, modeling, texturing etc).
I was hoping to blog during the summer but i had too much on my plate, but in between the heavy work and striving to achieve other goals, i sat down with a paper and pencil drawing different pictures to keep learning.
I haven’t used my computer for […]

Increase speed, drop down, and reverse direction!

A simple relationship grid showing the basic interaction between “objects” in Space Invaders, and a list of their properties and behaviours. A grid like this can be drawn many ways (and probably better than this). It is important to note that this exercise is done from a design perspective, rather than a programming perspective.
To avoid confusion, relationships should be read row to column only in the grid. Blank spaces denote no relevant relationship.

3D Week 1

The fall semester has started and Tuesday we had our very first 3D lesson. We had an introduction to the course and went through the elements of art before, in groups, analysing how they were applied in a few game screenshots.

The first image we discussed in our group was from Batman. The very first thing you see when looking at the image is the bad guy standing over Batman who is lying […]

Here we go

Greetings.
As I recently resumed school to go Game Design, I have been told to make a blog. As such, here I am.
This will be where I talk about my studies, and upload art and finished products that has to do with them, or I deem acceptable to upload here. My posting habits will be a bit erratic at best, with no sense of regularity.
Which means I will update this blog whenever I have something to update it with instead of […]

3D I, Week 1

This is my blog post for the first week of our 3D I course.

Firstly, I’ll go through the first class of this week. Among some general information about what we will be studying, the first lesson included a recap of various art elements, along with a group exercise to analyze game screenshots.
While the group I sat with was assigned to a different set of screenshots, I’d like to talk briefly about one picture that immediately stood out to me while […]
