Photostop för nybörjare?
Hej igen!

Warmup Sketches
Its been a long time since my last post, but now that we are back into concepting I have started begin my days with warmup life drawing sketches. Although it is not the same as having a real life model, it is really good practice that I should try and keep up. This is an awesome resource that I use http://artists.pixelovely.com/
Here are some sketches from this morning (hopefully I remember to do this more often and can eventually see […]

Last Week – Improving the Level Visuals
Why
This last week has been relatively composed for the graphics artists. The amount of assets we have produced surpasses the implementation that the coding team has been able to do up to this point. We agreed that the best course of action for the artists is to refine the already implemented assets to make a greater visual appeal. Amongst these assets were the level sheet.
What
I have been working on finishing the level graphics that was nearly completed by the last […]

New Unnamed Concept
I, together with a small team of two artist (incl. me) and one programmer, have recently started the development of a new, yet unnamed concept for the university course Game Design in Practice. Let’s call it ”Raft”.
The Concept
Raft is a harmless survival game with its focus on gathering. The player controls the arms (attached to a body) of a genderless person, stranded, alone, on a small raft in the middle of the vast ocean. To your aid you have a rope […]

Trip to Kustateljen!
This Tuesday our 3D class went on a field trip to Fårösund at the northern tip of the island to visit Kustateljen, which is a film studio. In our 3D class we’re going to start working with ingame cutscenes (movies) this week and the trip was meant to be a sort of introduction to that.
We were given a brief overview of how cameras work with different lenses and such, and how to light scenes to create different moods. After that […]

Still here!
Hello superheroes /super villains and elves and all of you out there.
I am sorry for not being so active here right now, but believe me, I am still working as hard as ever to make the world better and more equal with games! (suck on that villains) As in right now me and a classmate, the perfect duo I might add ;P, are creating a game for visually impaired/ blind. We have a course named game design in practice, where […]

White boxing the level
When planing the level we figured it would be most effective doing it in 3D. With a short production time, there will not be much room for concept art. Using simple shapes a layout of the scene could be done in a short time in the Unreal engine. It is also easy to make changes and try out different designs.
The Level would be made up of three area, one forest , a village and a rocky beach. In that order […]

Year three
Hello again! It’s been a while since my last update, hasn’t it? I’m currently at the end of week two of my third year of game design at Campus Gotland! I’m pretty excited about this year because the number of people who chose to stay for the third year is bigger than it usually is, which means a lot of my friends are still here!
The two courses I’m reading right now is 3DIV and Game Design in Practice. The former focuses […]

Big Game: Week 8
During the last week of the Big Game course, mostly small fixes was on the list. Stuff like;
text for the tutorial in-game,
as well as text for the menus.
Props for the final scene also had to modeled and textured, like the altar which can be seen in the print screen above. It was modeled in 3DS Max, as usual, and the textures were created in Substance Painter.
An example of the small props that I also created for this week was the lantern, […]

Summertime 3D-fun: Part 1 – The Model
For a while now I have been working on Tim Bergholtz’s tutorial for an AKM 47 in 3DsMax (https://gumroad.com/timb) to learn more about hardsurface modeling techniques and the modeling-part itself is slowly being wrapped-up (going into 7,5 hours of UV-unwrapping-material wiee!).
So, because my memory is short and goldfish-shaped, what follows are some in-process pictures and notes taken on some of the more complex and new (for me) aspects of creating this model for future projects. The approach was to divide […]
