So far so good, it has been both fun and incredibly hard! As someone who never sat down and really tried to learn how to draw this is so frustrating…Past attempts have been similar to: *Bing, I want to learn how to draw, lets draw!* Then I sit down, try to draw some extremely fancy awesome looking drawing and it ends up being nowhere near the amazing […]

The last few weeks have been extremely busy and it appears to stay that way for quite a while, blogging might continue to be inconsistent.
Below is a self analysis and conclusion of the 5-week project as a whole pulled from the project report that was written for the project. The chapters are missing, so it might be a bit jumpy.

Paper prototype feedback and more
So, in the last week we receieved feedback on our paper prototype.
Our prototype wasn’t really up to par, but it seemed that our general idea about the game came through regardless, we also received a lot of really good feedback on things that we could include or improve on the concept, which was great!
I am feeling we are on the right track so far, still, there is always room for improvement ofcourse, nothing will ever be perfect.

It is now the third week after the launch of our first “real” biggest project to date.
The assignment is to create a Space-Shooter concept for a game with the following restrictions:
Restrictions
– 2D (But you are free to decide perspective)
– No Gravity (Not requiring a gravity system)
– PC controls (Keyboard and/or mouse)
– 10 weeks (The scope of the production time of the concept should be 10 weeks)
– No network (Not requiring network)
– Single-player (Multiplayer or Co-Op can be optional, but the game […]

GameJam!
We recently had our very first Game Jam session! It was a ton of fun and quite a learning experience.
We had to use Game Maker, so it was very simple sprite graphics and simple mechanics that had to be repeated throughout in order to make an exciting game. (Moving left and right, jumping etc).
Most teams were mixed with first, second and third year students. Obviously it was quite difficult for us first year students to make a worthwhile contribution, since most […]
