Main menu
This time I will adress how I made the initial scene with my main menu and the belonging artefacts/buttons. I had a dialogue with the designer and the other members of my team about how we thought about the look of the main menu. I then went home and made some initial sketches traditionally and then made different colour sketches and compositions for the image in Photoshop. When I was happy with the result I presented a clean and clear […]

Animated Moth
This post I’m going to write more about animation. Besides the flower that I have written about earlier I have now also created animations for our protagonist, the moth, so that it can both fly and die in a nice way, and for the children of the moth so they also can fly.
True to my habits I started even this work by making sketches with pen and paper to get the feel for how I wanted it to […]

Vines
This time I have been working with vines. For our game we needed something to block off areas until the player has solved some kind of puzzle or found the right item. Since our environment is a cave we thougth vines would be a suitable obstacle, being something one could find in a cave and different enough from the rest of the environment to be clearly discernible, as opposed to e.g. a slab of rock which is also a perfect […]

A vicious flower
For this post I choose to focus on the designing and drawing I made this week of one of the enemies for our game. We have decided that besides the usual dangers that lurk in the world of an insect we should also have a flower that can shoot projectiles at our protagonist, and since the programers need to integrate the animation into the game it was time to create it now.
The flower is supposed to be an enemy, so […]

First post
This period I choose to focus on my main characters, which I drew in Photoshop. A sketch of one of the characters – the player avatar the moth, is presented above. I started by looking through the mood board to find the feelings conveyed through the experience of the avatar that we wanted to visually convey to the player, the feeling of being alone in a mysterious darkness filled with dangers having lost your children to a treacherous light.
I then […]
