I realized that all you guys reading my blog might not know what Big Game Project is, therefore I will describe it shortly. The Big Game Project is the last course we second year students have at Uppsala University, Campus Gotland. The game that we are developing will be shown at Gotland Game Conference where everyone attending can play the game, all from jurys, other students and random people attending at the conference.

Week 2 of BGP
Last week was the second week of Big game Project, I thought I would get more work done this week, but time sure flies.
During last week I mainly worked on the animations but also managed to create two props.
The props I created was two bushes, I created them by using the same method I used for the tree crowns, I didn’t come across any problems so creating them went smoothly.

Last week was the second week of Big game Project, I thought I would get more work done this week, but time sure flies.

Day 6
Monday again! well, back to office hours after being sick on saturday and taking Sunday off.I’ve already made it so that there’s the option to create thin walls that block access between two specific tiles, without otherwise inhibiting movement using these tiles.
I am now working on the enemy, since the other full-time programmer that was supposed to do this went back to the mainland for Easter. Myself, I’m going on Thursday morning.Halfway through making a state framework for the NPC […]

Big Game Project – Week 2
Yesterday I felt like I had stayed up completely too long and screwed over my sleep schedule again, it was 9 pm. This week has been so crazy that when it’s finally weekend I have too much time.
We had a deadline this week to have our first playable prototype ready by Friday. This ended up with us working until 2 AM the day before, but we got a lot of stuff done.

Monday: I updated all the matching squares so that they used the latest art, no longer do they look like squares so they will hereby be referred to as materials. I took some more time to figure out why the performance was so low within the cube script (material script, if you will). It turned out each of the 81 matching materials had a float that got the delta time added to them every frame. The float was just a temporary measure I […]
