More games to San Francisco!

The 2018 Game Developer’s Conference will once again feature the alt.ctrl.GDC exhibition – an area at the GDC dedicated to games that use alternative control schemes and interactions. Last year our students snagged two nominations. This time we’re going to have to ship three of these builds across the Atlantic.
Gamasutra has the complete lineup of games from all around the world, and have also begun interviewing each team.

The other player controls the dog character using a cycle handlebar with a Wii-remote attached to its center for the gyroscope as well. To win the game the bull […]

Global Game Jam 2018

Our students just spent an intense weekend running a local jam site on campus Gotland. The theme this year was “transmission” and in just 48 hours they managed to produce no less than 13 games.
Here’s some photos from the play-testing earlier today:

Speaking at TEDxUppsalaUniversity

… well, spoke rather, as TEDx Uppsala University took place a few months back. But the recordings were just made available so here goes!

Our own Patrick Prax ventured off island back in November to give a talk about co-creation in gaming – how players literally help build the games they play. In it he situates play and modding as important and deeply social forms of cultural participation. The talk highlights often-neglected parts of gaming (such as; community-driven […]
