Today was the start of a two day spree with lectures and a Game Jam. The first day consisted of three lectures:

Designing games for teen girls – How?
During our Monday lecture, we tried to lay out a concept of a horror game for teenage girls, taking place in World War 2. We went through one intense discussion after the other as of how one is supposed to reach out to these teen girls. What awakened the most intense debate, was the choice of platform. Sketching
more effort in to sketchlearning. Need to get back into the sketching procsess. i’ve been working far to much in 3d without any work in Photoshop or pencil. Break the picture down and get me tips where to learn.

So we’re supposed to design a space shooter. We got two key words, ”thoughtless” and ”badger”. this week we started with our high concept as well as what the game should be like in general. there is much left to do naturally, but at least we have started on it. I’m supposed to write a story for the game as well as thinking of different categories of enemies to be included in the game.

Post mortem: Finding the core and steal it’s gold!
Last Monday we got an assignment within our new group to take one game we all like and find out just why we like it and then make a paper prototype of it. At first we thought of adventure games and horror games but getting the feel of adventure and horror is kinda hard to translate into a paper prototype.

During the first weeks of our studies, we we’re put into several groups of about seven people. These groups/teams were supposed to work together on, as far as I understood, all group assignments and projects over the first year. I was part of Group 6, which according to me really was a dream team. We worked well together, everyone spoke their mind freely and everyone had great ideas that we all pretty much agreed on, ideas that truly worked in […]
