Romeo and Juliet
An assignment during class today was to make a game with 2 star crossed lovers who has to die in the end, preferably suicide. You couldn’t play the star crossed lovers.
Our group thought of a game where you play as a prisoner on death row and you would try and get the help from your cellmate and a prison guard in order to escape. As it happens your cellmate and the guard are the star crossed lovers separated by rules […]

Today was indeed eventful. First the system and then a lecture in mechanics design. For the seminar on Friday for Serious games we have to make an Economic mechanics design using this tool: http://www.jorisdormans.nl/machinations/
We have to create a diagram with a minimum of 10 nodes. We could work together but each person should have a unique piece to show on Friday. I will try and keep you updated on the process.

Bringer of doom, the Aztecs!
I’m finishing one of my concept courses. This game was especially fun to work with as the theme was a clash between different religions. I chose to make my turnaround of one of the enemies in the game. Namely a lunatic Aztec god who is half statue, half undead. This was the final result ( I had to stop myself from making too many accessories as my time was limited although I felt he could do with more jewelry).

A Serious Game
A serious game. A game where the content is more than entertaining, it is about teaching. I get excited about the idea of possibly designing a serious game but at the same time it’s a scary thought. Finding a great idea for a serious game is going to be hard but I want to do something educational.
I read a text where Bruce Milligan listed “The ten commandments of serious games”. And the one that caught my eye was the seventh […]
