Dev-Blog 1: Product backlog
Product backlog
During this past week, I had been working extensively with the product backlog for our project. The backlog is where all of the tasks or assets that need to be completed during the project are stored. You can add to the backlog as the project progresses, so it is never truly finished, but it is important that it is well structured for the project to run smoothly.
We use a google spreadsheet for our backlog, that very much resembles […]

Blog Post #1 – Managing the Product Backlog
Welcome to my very first Blog entry. I am the project manager and producer of team Amarok. Currently we are creating a shoot´em up videogame that uses the concept document “Burn Witch Burn” as a starting point. My work within the team consist mainly of managing the team, designing gameplay elements together with the lead designer and creating sound files.
This week I want to talk about the product backlog. This has been the very first task that our game design […]

Week 3
The artifact I have chosen to write about this week is my creation of a tileable background for our alpha prototype. My role in our group is producer/project manager, but since one of our graphic artists decided to quit the program last week we have had to reevaluate our roles and take on tasks that were not originally planned for us. I have no official knowledge in the graphic area but with some improvisation and a lot of youtube-tutorials I […]

An Easier Sprint Overview
Hello. I’m part of Team Kraken as the project manager and producer of our project. We’re working on a game that used the concept of “Echo Vale of Tinea” as a starting point. In this post I will talk about what changes were implemented to allow for a better overview of our working process.
At the start of our project we were given a template in Google Sheets to use as our SCRUM board. The purpose of that was to give […]

Physical work meetings vs virtual work meetings – 5SD037
I thought it would be best to introduce myself since this is my first post.
My name is Edward Leiman and I study Project Management at Uppsala University on Campus Gotland. I am 19 years old meaning I started studying right after high school. This was an impulsive decision but now after being here for a while I can tell it was the right call.

First post – The Sound of Bubbles.
I’m the project manager for group Quetzalcoatl. We’re creating a game through our interpretation of the “SelFish” concept document. In addition to managing I produce music and sounds for the game using my prior knowledge on the matter. I also try to help out with any other tasks I can.
The game is set in a fish tank. Before agreeing on every common design choice, we knew bubbles would be present in the game (both as particle effects and as projectiles). It […]

Revising the Backlog
Hello! I am Oskar Nolstedt and I am the project manager for Team Nazgul.
Seeing as we project managers do not have a ”creative” speciality all we can really do is help the artists and programmers best we canf or we can work on for example documentation. Except for making the team run smoothly and so on obviously. This last week I mostly spent revising the backlog from the first draft. We had some things that had to be changed, but […]

Pre-Sprint 1
What
Right before our first Sprint week, my group and I sat down and discussed how we wanted the game to be like. We already had a starting point: a well written concept document and a one page design that described in detail how the group that created it envisioned the final game.
We decided to keep the main key points of the game intact and start working on the game as soon as possible, as we didn’t want to change too […]

Oh Ja, Das Ist Structured
I, supreme leader Johannes, have made our group’s scrum document look more structured than the Third Reich. My fellow team members seem to have forgotten the common rules of writing like the peasants they are, luckily I didn’t have anything better to do so I spent several hours restoring our honour.
Colour coding, capitalization, centring and other extremely accelerating activities occupied most of my precious time. As you can see on the beautifully captured print screen, my work would make people […]

5SD037 – Transparancy
During the last two weeks our game production project has managed to proceed through the pre-production phase and entered the production phase. The pre-production phase has mostly been occupied by heavy design decisions along with the new experience of using scrum and its tools. My role as a producer for this project has brought me to be responsible for the backlog, goals, sprints and sprint reviews for this project. During the pre-production phase, I have been conducting meetings as well […]

Filling in the SCRUM backlog.
The first week of the course we were assigned with the task to fill out a scrum template. A scrum template is a list of assets/artifacts which should be worked on in order to complete the project. Since I’m the project manager/producer of my group I took the responsibility of being in charge of making sure the product backlog was easy to understand as well as selecting a priority system. As this was our very first time applying scrum theory […]

About Scrum
Hi my name is Lee and I am the project manager for the group Fenrir. For this post I am going to write about the method the group used to organize the project. “The Scrum”.
Scrum is an agile method for small teams. In the scrum, you would first decide the product backlog. It is breaking the project into big chunks. After that you break down the chunks again into smaller chunks which are sprints. Scrum is supposed to […]
