Week 4
This week has been somewhat of a turning point for my group since we feel like we actually have an idea of what the end goal of our game is, for the first time since the start of the project. The alfa prototype is done and now it is time to iterate further and polish everything to the nines! One of my tasks has been to create art for one of the enemies in the game, a mean worm. It […]

Author : Arnaud Mimoun
For this week’s blog I’ll talk about the sound design I worked on concerning the sound that the projectiles of the game make when they bounce on the net/border of the screen.
For this asset I made a total of 4 sounds :
Here is the first sound
Here is the second sound
Here is the third sound
Here is the last sound

Extreme group dynamics
(Note: comparatively super serious and tasteless)
At my project manager course we have learned much about how group dynamics affect team performance. The gist of it is that everyone needs to be understood as well as represented within the group for them to enjoy their work and thereby produce better results. This is primarily achieved through communication, although the ways of communicating can be vastly different. A usual way to spark conversation is doing team building exercises (hence the name). These […]

Designing a Main Menu That Fits Your Game
Hello. In this blog post I will talk about creating a menu that connects with your game in terms of it’s visuals and mechanics. If you would like to learn more about this project you can check my previous blog post “An Easier Sprint Overview” where I talk about changes given to a template that we received from our teacher when first introduced to a project methodology called Scrum.
While thinking about how the menu would be like, I thought […]

Creating graphics
During this past week, I have been helping out with the artwork for our game. The reason I did this, despite having the role of producer, was to take some of the work of the shoulders of the graphic artists in the team. They currently have a lot of tasks on their plate right now, and we may be in over our heads with our initial ambitions. The main reason behind this is that the art does not really keep […]

Blog Post #2 – The creation of my very first sound file
Hello and welcome to my 2nd Blog post entry. This week I will talk about how I created the sound effect for the pitchfork swing and it hitting its target. The Pitchfork is the prefered weapon used by one of our enemies in the game we are currently creating and therefore, we needed a fitting sound for the attack animation.
As mentioned in my first Blog entry last week I am also the sound designer of my team Amarok and I am […]

Preparing to Present the α
On the 16th of February, 2017, we presented the Alpha version of our game. I have been in charge of our groups presentations so far and this was no exception. The “pre-alpha” presentation we had a few days earlier was a mess due to technical difficulties so I saw this presentation as a chance to redeem myself. Luckily, our game designer Joel knew the topic well enough to show it in my stead.
It had been an exceedingly busy week. Therefore, I […]

A week with SCRUM
Welcome to my second blogpost, this post will mainly focus on the management side of things. I’m going to explain how we are working with scrum, everything from how we plan each sprint and what is happening on a daily basis.
Monday – Sprint planning
The team usually gathers on Mondays to discuss what we want to achieve during the sprint. We look in the product backlog (which I wrote about in my previous post), in the backlog we have defined the sprint goals for […]

Practice makes Perfect
Sup!
Throughout the entire process of our game development it was known that there was a presentation approaching. This is what I have been working on this week. A presentation can be easy, hard or fun. For me personally, it is the worst. This sounds pretty ironic coming from a student studying project management but it is the truth.
I have never enjoyed presenting to the class and this time the class was more or less 120 people. The advice I got […]

Pressure and responsibilities
Today was the deadline of the Alpha. The complete version of the minimum viable product was due today. It required our team to have completed and fulfilled each requirement that our teacher Marcus had set up for this day. Marcus had also decided that each of the 25 consisting groups in our program should present their Alpha to the rest of the students, a 10 minutes’ presentation involving 2 parts. First to discuss the concept, the positive and negative parts […]

Sprint and sprint planning
Sprint and sprint planning
What / Last time I talked about the scrum. Today, I would like to talk more in depth about the sprint, the planning of it and the review.
As scrum is an agile method with iteration, sprint is the minor aspect in the scrum. To easily define, scrum is the big chunk and sprint is small slices. For example, if scrum has big backlogs such as main character, in the sprint it would be specified as […]

The goal of our game is to create an exotic and challenging environment. Player will have to reach the top of the tree from the bottom while fighting varies types of […]
