Developement Diary: Part 2 (officially part 7)

Today we have divided ourselves to get ahead of the project’s schedule. William and Erik are working on the pitch, Marcus and Alex are working on the concept document and Filip and I are working on the One-Page design, mostly him though since I’ll be finding a suitable rip-o-matic. I found one that fits our purposes, though there could be better ones out there.

The First Game Jam

A little belated post about the impressions of the first Game Jam as I was busy with other university assignments.
The topic for the Game Jam was Addiction X. Every team could use their own imagination to interpret the topic as they saw fit. Afterwards, in the span of about 6-7 hours every team had to produce a playable game using Game Maker (GM). Game creation was intended as a cooperation between programmers who would write the code in GM and graphics artists who […]

Development Diary!
October 13th
Our jetpack orangutan project is in progress!
We have agreed to create the concept for our game about an orangutan with a jetpack.
October 14th
I worked from home today. I searched for a fitting audiovisual representation of what I believe the game could be.
Idea for main character name; Monsieur Singe, being French for ‘Sir Ape’.
Idea for a Power-up; top hat of temporary invincibility, acts as a shield.
Idea for a Power-up; monocle of true sight, slow motion enemies and enemy projectiles.

Super […]

Completing the scrolling shooter in GM

The scrolling shooter game whose creation steps I described in one of the previous posts was the first really playable version – i.e., you had a challenge (approaching enemy planes) and an action to overcome the challenge (shoot/avoid the enemy planes).
However, that version was pretty bland. There was only one kind of enemy planes and hitting any one of them meant losing the game. Boring.
In this post I present the next version of the game, here. I’m not going through the […]

This week we tried to do some face scanning using photos added into “123D Catch”. One has to take several pictures from different angles and add it into the software which in turn adds all the pictures into one 3D model that one can work on. This 3D model would later on be imported to the 3D coating program. In the 3D coating program we try to apply poly surfaces to complete a human face that can be put onto […]

Update statūs studiōrum

Almost a month A reasonable amount of time has passed after the previous post. Here is some update about what happened during that time.
Swedish communication course:
* compose a scientific article about a topic related to your studies (in Swedish)
I decided not to oversimplify things and composed a text that could really qualify for something that (at least in form) is close to a scientific article. You know one with formulae [sic!], citations in square brackets [ ] and a reference/bibliography list at […]

Desert Noir Paper Prototype UPDATE

Here is a one-page rule explanation of our paper prototype. It represents our core gameplay which is run and gun combat. When people playtested it, they found it really fun to run around freely and some people even started climbing chairs. Even though that was unplanned, it actually kept the core experience intact.
This thursday, we’re going to show off our prototypes. I believe our players will run around and have a lot of fun 😀

3D1 starting assignment 3 modeling

I have started the modeling of Nils character Jorm! And this is how far i have come:

The back of the golem

And here we got the back of the golem

I am going to make some small adjustments but I am afraid to go ahead doing the hands now and head. Some more consulting with the teachers about this model regarding the head and hands would be needed. Another option would be to keep this save file if something would […]
