Wolfweek
This week consisted almost entirely of wolf documentaries and wolf/canine anatomy.
The wolf was supposed to be based on Nordic gray wolves but had a lot of anatomical inspiration from dogs as wolf anatomy was surprisingly hard to come by. The only i could find was some digitally drawn pictures via a google search. It helped but some parts was not that clear so i stuck with the more professionally made dog anatomy.
With those prerequisites the model became pretty stale and […]

Big Game Project: Second week
The project goes on but not without problems or complications but it gets solved one way or another. The learning process is slow, and so is the production for the graphics, hopefully though it will pay off in the end.
I have created more materials, learned how to refine them and tile them correctly in Unreal Engine 4. I have also started to create a a bunch of concepts that the 3D artists will use as a guide towards creating the […]

We have play tested our game, and we have a working prototype. Now we only have to aim for to complete everything that is supposed to be ready for the Alpha.

New game in development!
After recovering from the haze that was CoBots development, we’re back with a new game, Mechropolis! It’s a first person action puzzle game set in what’s the remnants of a lost civilization. The only remaining sign of life are small rusty robots going about their business, long after whoever built has gone.
You need to overcome challenges by throwing them (the robots, that is) together to create new ones that will help you traverse the environment and overcome challenges. I made […]

Unity Master Server – Big Game Project
Unfortunately, I’ve been ill this week and because of that, I haven’t been able to do as much work as I otherwise would have. But I tried doing as much as I could anyways so I wouldn’t get too far behind schedule. I have finally finished setting up a master server for the game so players can find available games to play without having to know the servers IP addresses. Players can now choose between creating a private a server where the […]

What is exploration in games?
Intro
What is exploration in games? What defines it and how can we as designers use it in video games? This was the question that 9 people tried to answer those questions one night, with discussions and bringing up examples in order to find out.
What defines exploring?
The discovery of the unknown. This phrase sums up what exploitation in games is. That includes everything from discovering how the controls works to exploring a unknown cave in Minecraft.
Now, if you follow that […]

All around
A fun thing about working in a small team is that you’re able to be a part of the whole process in making a game. Some of our artists have their hands full with their respective responsibilities, but I personally are doing a lot of work here and there. I’m mostly doing textures, both for props that the others have modelled and textures for the level itself, but I’m also doing some 3D modelling myself, with UV mapping and texturing […]

Fish, Like a bear!
The last two days I have been working with the bears animations.
Now we have placeholder animations, in the game, for walking, sprinting, punching when on all fours, standing up and punching while standing.
As soon as I got the animation for punching while on all fours, I started thinking about how I would do the fishing, and now it is complete.
When the bear punches, while on all fours, and he hits a fish with his paw, he will then grab this […]
