Board Game Progress Report (Advanced Game Design) – 2013027
(I haven’t made a blog post about some of these things earlier because there has been things that has been coming in the way for me)
This week, the work has been more divided among the different members in the group. One person was looking into a new version of the board for our game, others were looking into wands (what we call items in the game that could be found by searching) and others looked into writing on the game […]

This Weeks Progress
This Weeks Progress:
This week we’ve had a lot of progress on our board game. I remade our map so it was a lot more balanced than our previous versions while modifying it after feedback other people have given us. When I was happy with the layout I added some graphics real quick to make it more attractive, this version is far from the final one but it gives you an idea of how it could look like.
Game Testing:

Exploration in Games
What does that even mean?
During the Design Club Meeting this week we discussed the subject of Exploration and what it means.
There were many ways to look at exploration in games, some thought that it was exploring the game world further and others thought it could be about finding that one strategy to beat the game. As in a tower defence game for example. In a tower defence game you can win by using all the tools available but what they […]

Doom’s Date Another Update
Yesterday, me and my fellow programmer spent the entire day working on the game. We made some progress but not as much as we wanted to. However, the hurdle that we overcame was a big one. Now we can print out dialogue with a typewriting effect 😀 It also proves that there is always good to have a brain but even better when there are two! Looking forward to our next session and I really have to get going on […]

Advanced game design week 43
This week we had a meeting with Marcus, where we got some more feedback.
The feedback we got:
Add another mechanic to make the game more dynamic.
Make obstacles larger than one tile. As they didn’t hinder the play because they could move diagonally.
He also gave us the idea that board could be flooded by water to stress the players more, as they had to hurry before the board was completely flooded.
I got the task to make the game pieces for the 2nd […]

Recording HD footage with Unity and Fraps
Today I worked on our trailer for our game CoBots. Besides the videographical changes from the GGC trailer I made earlier this year there was also this lingering problem with the colors and the extreme color banding that occured throughout the video. The characters (and everything in general) was also very washed out and somewhat blurred, and this time I set out to do it right. For those of you who […]

Narrative Assignment
So the last week we did an analysis on the story of Bioshock Infinite. Which was, put in simple terms, tough. Firstly I found the whole thing about “3 Act”, “9 Act” and “Heroes Journey” to be extremely confusing. It was not until I had seen my friends hand in that I thought I understood what it was all about. I then chose to do it with the template of a “Heroes Journey”, which I am not so sure was […]
