Theme Park, first sprint
So this week is our second week after starting to use the scrum and time for second sprint. I started with finishing all the still images for all 8 angles on the kids, both idle and slide state. I did not have time to draw “that special kid” yet, that will have to wait until I´m done with all the basics needed for alpha. I really hope I´ll get time to implement it tho. it would add a lot of […]

Design challenge
I love this site called Threadless. It is a great idea! Anyone can submit designs and have them up for scoring if they provide a certain standard, no copy write material and so on. When the design has been up for ten days of scoring it gets an average. If that average is high enough it might be up for print and people can buy it. The occasionally have collaborations and challenges. Today I created […]

New Course, new project!
We are now on our third week in the new course. This course is called Theme Park and we have ten weeks to get our games ready for GGC (Gotland Game Conference). Our first pitch was about a chef inspired game but it turned out to be a little too much with all 54 inputs and too much mechanics that could break. So we decided to overhaul.. again, and start at square one after all the time […]

Sticky Situation
I forgot to tell you about our game “Sticky Situation” that me and two others created at a game jam! It is a side scroll, co op game. You work as two balls of slime with opposite gravity. They have to stand on top of objects or one other to not fall into some deadly wall of spikes or some other danger. One character is controlled with the usual “ASDW” – buttons and the other with “JKLI” -buttons on […]

week 9, Game Design
This week was a mixed week. I have been sick on and off for two weeks now and tried to get as much work done as possible. I did not work on any sounds this week and went back to helping out with the art. I am making the starting screen and menu screen this week. I thought of some different designs but decided to go with a wooden board hanging from two ropes. The options are gonna turn up […]

Week 8, Game Design
Another week has passed by really quickly. I am still working on creating and finding sounds for our game. This week my sprint plan is fixing a sound effect for the dryads walk animation, for planting a seed, plant unit 1 skill effect, plant unit one death, enemy unit 1 skill effect, enemy unit 1 death. The sound effects are way easier to find than making the level 1 soundtrack which I am still working with as well. Al tho […]

Week 7, Game Design
So, this week I am still working on the soundtrack for our game. I was gravely mistaken on the time it would take to actually make a soundtrack from scratch. Since I am making the soundtrack in three different stages, meaning that I will divide the song into three parts even tho they have the same basic sound, it is harder and I cant just pick a song. This is so that the programmer can set when the song will […]

Week 6, Game Design
This week ill be leaving the graphics to our other two graphics students in our group. This is because the sound to our game needs some attention. Unfortunately our group only consists of five members since some people chose to drop out before the course is over. We also have some different levels of experience and skill amongst us in the group which further contributes to making it a bit less easy. So for now I’ll be taking over the […]

Concept art week 5, Oishi turnaround
In the beginning of the course we got to make a case study about a samurai named Oishi. The following weeks has been about making a key shot from the story and now character concepts. Last week was about drawing Oishi in two different styles.
This week was about choosing one of these styles and make a turnaround. I chose the Marvel styled one since the other style was too simple.
It was close to not making the deadline since […]

week 5, Space Shooter Project
This week is just as busy as any other! I think I have gotten a bit better at planning how much work I can take on, and how long it will take. I have to consider and plan carefully due to my other classes. Goal number one for this week, don´t die, -check! The second goal for this week is to finishing making two enemies and to animate them before the end of the sprint.
The style of our game is […]

Concept art and 2D class
So far I´m doing alright with my full time extra course ”Concept Art” And even though it´s tight some times, I still manage to make the deadlines (even if it is with 3 minutes margin). This week I had to make concept art for a Japanese samurai named Oishi. We had to draw him in two different art styles.
I drew him in a marvel sort of style to the left and a ”Adventure Time” style to the right. I […]
