3D times ahead
Hello everyone!
As you may have noticed by the lack of content lately I have been pretty occupied. We are currently doing our 3D3 classes and time is not something we have a lot of, especially after being sick. Our current project is to create a 3D character in a group of three. We made a character package like the one we did back in 3D1. Let me introduce Admiral Edward Julius Hemsworth!

Hello again!
Finally I thought I would get to that update about my 3D class. Like I may have told you before, we started with the design of an object from the museum. I chose a goblet that was not too hard for me to model. Naturally I got some help from the teacher.

Design challenges at Threadless
I am a member at this site called Threadless. And it is amazing! They have design challenges together with well known names and brands. It works like this; you either join a challenge or make a design without a specific challenge in mind. When your design is ready you upload it to Threadless. They will examine if it is up to quality and if it is it will be up for a 10 days voting period. Everyone that is a […]

Hello there again! I will soon update the blog on my 3D progress. I thought I would upload some of my practice from yesterday meanwhile. I really need to learn the use of colors and putting highlights and shadows on objects. I have the vision, but it is not always so easy to apply. What I mean with that is that you know what you want it to look like, but not the process of getting there, tools, colors, layers, […]

Dreamhackathon Weekend!
This weekend was quite hectic. I participated in a 24 hour game jam at Dreamhack Stockholm and had a blast! I met people from great companies and really interesting random developers. We did not win any prizes but i gained a lot of experience. The theme was “materials re imagined”. We ended up with a vs, side view, racing game.
You played as two very fat and bouncing chameleons competing against one another. The goal was to change between 3 materials, […]

We are back from the “holiday” (which consisted of work naturally) and began school two weeks ago. This term my classes are advanced game design and 3D. The first things we had to do in 3D was to learn 3d´s max. We all had to create different kinds of crates.
Its seems like a lot of fun and I look forward to learning even more. I have not got that much to show so far but hopefully this gives you […]

Final Crunch
We have arrived at final week of the project. So, what can I say about this so far?, I have gotten to know my teammates and how our group dynamic works. I have learned a few tricks while having to do all these animations due to the camera angle of our game (asymmetric). Also what happened due to our planning and my personal work plan.

Wednesday, day before Alpha
Today is the day before alpha and we have to crunch pretty hard because of the overhaul. The good thing is that we have come much further than we had with any other idea. Which is comforting. Today I am just making as much as possible so that we have something playable at the alpha. Like making a win state and hp bars to make it able for the players to keep track of who is winning and so on. […]

Baby squeek at the start of the week
Today I continued with remaking the already started animations so that the mothers can steal the kid in all directions. I also made this animation you see above for when the baby is left alone on the ice.

Overhaul
Overhauling a big part of the project seems to be standard in my team projects by now. Our game designer felt that the game was contradicting while testing it on the pad. The sliding was much more fun than making the ice and the game play felt wrong. So he came up with the idea of 2-4 penguin mothers fighting over 1 baby in a arena. In real life the penguin mothers actually do steal each others babies when losing […]
