We made quite a bit of progress today even if the most we did was checking our codes for glitches and cleaning it up. Herman’s pretty much got the whole animation thing done and the data in question is taken from text files outside of the program. I haven’t actually posted anything in quite a while so I better get back in business before I make a habit out of forgetting to post. Truth is that I haven’t done that much work these last three days, so instead of posting three small posts I decided to combine them into one big post.

Had another one of those slow days again. I did make some progress with the pause menu and it should be about halfway done by now. Hopefully I’ll get around to doing it. Also, I’ll need to talk to Herman about synchronising the project again.

Back to normal classes today… well, okay they were not actually normal classes as we don’t have anything left to learn so all we did was to work with our projects. Herman completed the animations so we now have Bulldozers whose bands actually move which is really cool. Meanwhile, I started working on the improved Pause Menu, there is quite a bit of work left on it but it shouldn’t be too much.

Finished the sound, didn’t do much else…We now have jumping sounds playing and a background music. Most of the soudns were gathered from all over the internet or from other games such as Super Mario Bros. or Pac-Man, the background theme is from the original frogger though.

Because of my lack of progress when it comes to the score output I decided today that I was going to focus on getting the sound done instead since it should (hopefully) take less time and I am more familiar with that sort of work. Once I am done with that I will see over if there isn’t anything else that abosultkey needs to be done before going back to the score output problems again.

I did make a Text class which is a child clas of the Sprite class that I thought might be helpful, however, the Text class isn’t too different from the Sprite Class so I might drop this. In my quest to make the HUD for the game I realized that I had to learn how a new library work. As far as I was able to gather I have to change the sprite every time I want to make the number change. Both me and Herman was tired after New Year’s Eve so we didn’t get as much done as we’d hoped. I did, however add the Soundmanager and all the sound objects, though they’re not actually used yet. I also added a levelling system so now the game will move faster the more you play. The player is unaffected. Got the menu and most of the gameplay done today, all that remains is the HUD, animations, sound, GameOver state and a winstate… okay maybe that’s not a little but we’re clearly getting done.

Herman got working on the menu today while I cleaned up some of the code and improved the gamestate. Later on, I took over the Menu while herman started with the HUD. We also set all of the objects correctly and applied the victory conditions, you can now win/lose the game, it looks the same though.
Today, there’s a little less than a week left of the project, I hope we make it in time…

For a while we’ve had the problem of the sprites of objects being smaller than their surroundings, we just fixed that by changin the size of the sprite sheet.
