3D – Week 4
Hello again. Long-time no see. I’ve been stupidly busy lately and haven’t gotten around to posting any blogs, but I’ll hopefully be posting a couple of blogs this week to catch up on what I’ve been doing. As you might remember we optimized some 3D-crates that we’d made during class a couple of weeks back. For “Assignment 1”, we were to choose one of our crates and texturize it. I chose to go with my cartoony crate out of the […]

Board Game Analysis: Betrayal at House on the Hill
Betrayal at House on the Hill is a very narrative-based board game for 3-6 players of ages 12 and older. The scenario is that the players are a group of explorers, exploring an old haunted house. Whilst exploring the house one player suddenly turns into a traitor, sometimes gaining control of monsters, and the game turns from exploring to a fight for survival between the traitor and the rest of the players. The fight between the players can however […]

3D – Week 3 – Preparing for Assignment 2
This past Tuesday we went to visit the Gotland Museum, and after taking a tour through the museum we got to choose one object that we want to model and texture during our 3D classes. When we’d chosen an object we were to take reference photos of it.
I looked at many different objects, and took a lot of photos of everything that I thought might be interesting to try and model. I realized that there were a couple of objects […]

3D – Week 3 – Optimizing crates
I’ll be posting two 3D-related posts this week, this first one about optimizing our crate-models from last week. As you’ll know if you read last weeks’ post I’ve created three different crate-models, based on three different themes. During this weeks’ workshop the class split into groups of three, and in the groups exchanged models with each other, so that we all got to clean up one model from each member in the group. Two of my three models have been […]

3D – Week 2
Another week has passed, and this past week we’ve been learning more about IP and Visual Style. Whilst learning about different styles we’re still learning more about 3D Studio Max, and this past week we’ve been creating crates. Three different kinds of crates, to be exact, based on different themes. Out of the five themes I chose Sci-fi, Cartoony and Urban contemporary.
Sci-fi Crate:
The Sci-fi theme is, for me, mostly defined by geometric and streamlined shapes with a man-made feeling to […]

Board Game Analysis: Kill Doctor Lucky
For the course in Advanced Game Design, all of the students have been tasked with playing and analysing the systems of board games. In a group of six people, I’ve been analysing the game “Kill Doctor Lucky”. Kill Doctor Lucky is an inversion of the classic game “Clue” where the players are out to kill a man instead of looking for clues to solve who did it. You, and all of the other players, want to kill Doctor Lucky, but […]
