Ambient Pressure: the Enemies
This week I will be talking about the process of how the design for the enemies were created.
First of all, here is the end result:
How I came to this conclusion, can be read below.
We did have the concept document from the last group to go after, but I still wanted to create my own designs for our game. I used the enemies they had created and used as a base for my own ones. Which means, I kept the […]

Ambient Pressure: the Diver
Our game is about a diver who is on a mission to find out what is going on with the underwater life in a specific place; there has been sightings of mutated fish. The goal is to dive down to this sunken ship and collect as much samples as needed to test what is really going on down there. There will also be angry mutated fish, which you can not kill easily (not by yourself, at least); but tricking them is easily […]

Ambient Pressure – Second week
This was the first week we really started working seriously on the game, after choosing the concept last week. We met our Scrum Master on Monday morning and started assigning everyone tasks for this week. My job this week was to create concept art for the game; of the characters, the game in general and such.

Final assignment
Our final assignment for the 2D course, for the grade VG, was to use a provided picture of a city to put shadows and light in. It was also a second part of the assignment; to construct from a loose sketch we were also provided with. I started out with the city, since that seemed to be the most time consuming task. We wasn’t supposed to get into detail, but it was hard to avoid all of them.
I began […]

Helping programmers
During the winter break, I didn’t get much drawing done. I did some small work on the assignment we were given, but didn’t finish it until I got back to the island. However, I did help some programmers with their art in the game they are making; to program a game is their final assignment. I was asked to draw two different blocks; one solid and one that could be destroyed, a background, two players, an enemy, a bomb and an explosion. […]

2D assignment
Our first task was to create 20 thumbnails from a concept we were provided with. I chose Clash of Heavens, where a regular person gets drawn into a war with ancient mythology and evil forces. My first thought was to design just a regular girl, but it soon evolved into a girl who had been part of the war for a while; which is why most of them are wearing armour. I also designed some creatures, just for fun.
Later we had to […]

10 week project – first notes
Our assignment was to create a game concept from two words that we were given. Our group, number 15, was given fancypants and clueless. The game needed to be in 2D, with no gravity and it had to contain at least one projectile and three power-ups.
Among the roles, I was chosen to be lead art.
We wanted the game to be focused on exploring, puzzle, challenge and panic. We also needed to include clueless and fancypants somehow. To solve that, we […]

Concept Challenge
Art for the concept challenge we recieved last week.
Our group of four people randomly generated characters and built a game from that, using the website theyfightcrime.net. We ended up with a lonely scientist with a trick up his sleeve and a scantily clad barbarian haunted by the brutal death of her family. Long story short; our scientist was out on a journey in his spaceship in search of company, but unfortunately crashed on a hideous planet where […]
