University Projects: Lineart!

Well… I haven’t posted anything in a while due to university so im gonna post some of my latest work in the 2d deparment. This was done this week for an assignment in Line-Art. I’ve been working without photoshop or any digital programs to create it and it turned out rather nicely if i can say it myself.
 (Line art)
there are some problems with perspective especially with the scissors (they do not look seperated enough) But outside of that I […]

Designing Systems/Game Ideas: Resource Dependencies

When I was eating today I got a crazy idea for an economy or resource system for an RTS that could become very fun to use and would force players into a economic war and a “real” war. It would use scarcity of resources and trades to be the primary source for resources.
What this means in practice would be a system that forces players to interact and use trades to get everything they need to obtain specific goals, such as […]

University Projects: Thumbnails

Gonna upload some thumbnails that we made last weeks, I’m not happy of the itchy upload quality (School scanner went insane.)
We were to choose one out of two design concepts. I picked the one called “Clash of Heavens”. I interpreted the design to be about old religions and myths invading our modern realm. So I started designing characters that were not inline with any world. This was due to the background was supposed to change back and forth between mythological […]

Game Design: BFH continued and Random

Battle for Hildegaard.
Crazy card game it was, have tried out two basic decks of the 25 cards me and a friend composed the other night. It was pretty slow and sluggish due to to much damage mitigation on units. Problem will be solved and the game pace will hopefully be higher next time.
I’m very sorry for not writing alot, school and other projects are taking alot of time, (Misery mistreated, Secret society game, Motra, BFH, Domains…) list is long of […]

Game Ideas: Battle for Hildgaard the Collectible Card Game (CCG)

Battle For Hildgaard
Hello everyone.
I want to introduce you all to Battle for Hildgaard, a collectible card game I’m currently thinking about, alot. It would be a regular CCG in that you collect cards and build decks of them. Put there are two points that would make the game a more enticing experience. Firstly how players would build decks and secondly it’s how the game is played.
Building Decks
In a regular CCG you have about 60 cards in your deck, and with these cards […]

Game Ideas: Illuminati board game SINGLEPLAYER EXTRAVAGANZA!

Good day every reader out there!
I’ve been working with a small team of 4 people for the last couple of months to create a singleplayer board game. I was a little skeptic to it at first, but after running through some prototypes we are finally getting it to work. The game now actively works to protect itself and it really feels like the odds are stacking up against you the more noticed you get by the game.
The game itself is […]

Designing Systems: Comfort Zone and Personal Space.

well… Let’s just start with these words, it’s half six in the morning and i can not sleep, so I decided to write one of these again. This time we are back to social interaction and how we actually do it in our everyday activity and how it can be applied to games.
To start off most of us got what is called a comfort zone, an area where we feel comfortable aslong as no one else doesn’t enter it without […]

University Projects: Snakes

I’ve lately been working in this awesome group of people from the university with a Shoot’m up and the more we build of it the more we understand that we are getting closer to something that will become awesome.
Looking at it objectively though the game is simply a top-down game, where you are playing as a person lost in different areas, trying to find coverage with your cellphone so you can call for help, while doing so you are attacked […]

Post Mortem – Guns of Icarus (The Board Game)

Introduction
I worked with a group of people creating a board game paper prototype of Guns of Icarus. Guns of Icarus is a high paced, strategy FPS based on zeppelin combat, it’s a very interesting concept and designing a paper prototype of it was really interesting.
We wanted to focus on teamwork which also is the focus of Guns of Icarus which lead to us keeping the role system of the original game, requiring each zeppelin to fly with a pilot, a […]

Game Ideas: Misery Continued?

I’m very sorry for my… absence to write this more detailed plan of the game, but I haven’t been able to focus on it for the last couple of days. I’ve been busy building a game about corporate take-overs and plot twists, all in a spectacular 1 man board game. It’s a very interesting game and I hope for it to go well, progression is key and the prototype turned out great though.
Back to Mistreated Misery, Where I am stuck atm […]
